History of Berco Builders

Berco Builders has been serving the Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado communities since 1980. We specialize in designing and building some of the most beautiful decks, custom fences, patio covers, garden gates, and gazebos in the industry.

We set ourselves apart from our competition by:

Staying on the job from start to finish
Using our own labor – no subcontractors
Touring our job sites daily
Being experienced with a variety of wood and composite products including Redwood, Douglas FIr, Cedar, and IPE Brazilian Hardwood, *Trex, Boardwalk, and Timbertech Composite Products.

A note about TREX Composite Products and Berco Builders. We are, and have been, a licensed TREX-Pro Contractor since the inception of the program. We are trained, skilled, and experienced TREX installers and have the ability and knowledge to create any TREX design from curved to star-burst, from intricate color patterns to simple yet elegant designs.

Our Team

Berco Builders employs only experienced, professional, career-minded craftsmen and maintains a strict safety program ensuring our customers of a properly constructed project.

Tim Berry
Tim is the Founder and President of Berco Redwood and Berry Lumber. He is also the Chief Operating Officer of Berco Builders. His commitment to service and excellence in materials and installations has resulted in Berco Redwood’s outstanding reputation for over 20 years. Tim’s regard and strong support for both customers and employees is well known and appreciated at Berco.

Steve Martynse
Steve is the President of Berco Builders and a master craftsman. Steve is beginning his twenty fourth year with the Berco organization. He has worked in every division in our company with the greatest amount of time served in our deck building group. Steve has built and supervised over 1000 construction projects. In addition to overseeing the projects, Steve puts on his tool bags everyday. We know of no one in the deck building industry that is more knowledgeable and experienced than Steve.

Lucy Middaugh
Lucy has been designing yards and involved in the construction of her projects for over 10 years. Specializing in hardscape features like Decking, Patios, Trellises, Water Features, Fire Pits, Outdoor Kitchens and Islands, she can design Paradise in your backyard for you. She's won Design Awards and had her projects published in Magazines. When she helps you to design and plan the future of your backyard and decking, she will also consider your privacy, access, visuals and most of all, your comfort.

Jeremy Martynse
Jeremy has been an integral member of the Berco Builders team since 2005--possibly even longer if you include highschool summer vacations working with his dad. Having grown up building under the watchful eye of his father, our very own Steve Martynse, Jeremy has developed a keen understanding for construction and design. We are very fortunate to have both of the Martynse guys on our team.

Ed Yago
Ed is an experienced, professional craftsman with over twenty years in the industry specializing in deck, gazebo, and patio cover installations. Ed is also an experienced in many other phases of construction including siding and trim replacement, framing, and window and door installations. Ed is a conscientious and professional craftsman that we are proud to have on our team. Ed received a Bachelor Degree in Physical Training from California State at Hayward. In addition, he is first aid and CPR certified
